Real-World Experience

The Grand Rapids Youth Symphony & Classical Orchestra offer progressive ensemble experiences designed to meet students at their level challenging them to grow musically and personally.

Classical Orchestra

The Classical Orchestra is a strings-only ensemble that focuses on the music of the classical period (1750–1820). String players often spend a year or more in the Classical Orchestra before advancing to the Youth Symphony.

Monday evenings 6:00–8:00 p.m.

Youth Symphony

The Grand Rapids Youth Symphony is a full orchestra—strings, brass, woodwinds, and percussion—that plays challenging symphonic music from a range of musical periods. The orchestra is composed of some of West Michigan’s most talented, hardworking young musicians.

Monday evenings 7:00–9:30 p.m.
