Music Scholarships & Competitions
Below is a list of scholarships and competitions GRYS&CO members have been awarded in past years. These opportunities exist outside of the Grand Rapids Youth Symphony & Classical Orchestra, and you can find more information at the links below.

The Grand Rapids Symphony Mosaic Scholarship provides funds for underrepresented students to take one-on-one lessons with GRS musicians, as well as experience workshops and performances with creative leaders. The scholarship is for one school year and is open to any student aged 12-18 living in or attending school in Kent County who has been playing their instrument for at least one school year. Students must also be enrolled in their school band or orchestra if available.

Hundreds of scholarships are available for Kent County high school and college students, a few of which are specific to music. Students can apply for many scholarships using a general application; a separate application is required for certain additional scholarships. For details, search for keywords such as music, fine arts, and performing arts.

The Stulberg Competition in Kalamazoo, MI, is open to students (ages 19 and under) of violin, viola, cello or double bass
